Overview
My Phd focuses on understanding how bacterial immune systems, specifically restriction modification systems (RMSs), influence the horizontal transfer of genetic material. I am particularly interested in how the presence of different RMSs in the genome might influence the acquisition of antimicrobial resistance encoding alleles in clinically important bacteria.
