My broad research interests are in the field of evolution, ecology and behaviour. In particular, I am interested in the evolution of social behaviour and communication. Currently, I am working with Professor Jeremy Field’s research group investigating the origin of sociality, using social insects as model species. In addition to large-scale field experiments, the project involves a molecular approach, using microsatellite genotyping to assign relatedness and transcriptomics to look at gene expression between queens and workers. As a technician, I am responsible for the day-to-day running of experiments, conducting fieldwork and molecular laboratory management.

As an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, I also enjoy teaching and inspiring others through outreach.
