Ecology and Conservation
My PhD is 'The Evolution and Mechanisms of Microbial Ageing', researching the evolutionary and mechanistic reasons why ageing is inherent to single-cell life.
This project uses evolutionary biology, microbiology, and mathematics to model E. coli lineages using microfluidic data, with results applying to evolutionary theory (division of labor, inheritance systems) and biomedicine (antibiotic resistance, germ/stem cell ageing).
Based in Penryn, I am supervised by Andy Young, Stefano Pagliara, Angus Buckling, and Bram Kuijper.
