Terence McAvoy
Postgraduate Researcher
Ecology and Conservation
Terry is a PhD student funded by BBSRC through the SWBio DTP programme.
He did his undergraduate at the University of Exeter in Conservation Biology and Ecology at the Penryn Campus, follwed by a Master's by Research.
The master's was focussed on the effect of stressors on microbial commmunties, investigating how this impacts eco-evo dynamics and the propesnity for bacteria to take up plasmids.
His PhD continues experimental evolution experiments into bacterial interactions in different nutrient contexts and using Genome Scale Model models to predict these, as well as use this work to optimise hydroponic plant microbiomes.
He is a CASE funded student, working with ConcertBio
