About me:
While I'm broadly interested in behavioural and evolutionary ecology, I'm fascinated by the selective tensions on the genome and the ability of quantitative genetics to reveal them. Such tensions arise not only via sexually divergent selection between the sexes, but also through the divergent interests of relatives (or, indeed, of the same individual across its ontogeny) or the fitness costs of reproduction.
In recent years my research has been motivated to expant the summary overview presented by a ‘classical’ quantitative genetics perspective, for example by considering the spatiotemporal dynamics of heritable effects, the impact of the social environment, and whether it is possible to better align empirical and theoretical perspectives of fitness by extending our cradle-to-grave perspective of the lifespan to include prenatality.
