Miss Mara Fischer (she/her)

I am a benthic marine ecologist currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher on the Convex Seascape Survey, a five-year multidisciplinary project, seeking to understand the carbon stored in the world’s seabed. I am part of the team researching the role of life and biodiversity in regulating seabed carbon stores and the benefits that protection from industrial fishing practices such as trawling and dredging may have on this. Within this, my research focuses on fish communities: how they interact with the seabed, how these interactions may impact sediment carbon storage, and how this is impacted by anthropogenic activities.
