Visual information governs many aspects of animal behaviour, ecology, survival and conservation. My research draws these cross-disciplinary threads together.
Broad research specialisms:
- Visual ecology & evolution – e.g. camouflage, signalling, predator-prey interactions.
- Visual modelling: I enjoy developing new technology and code to “see” through the visual systems of different animals. I'm the lead developer of the micaToolbox.
- Light pollution research - including its impact on moths, birds, and marine animals.
- Animal Behaviour & Learning - I'm the lead developer of BehaveAI, a video analysis framework for tracking animals and their behaviour.
