Broad research specialisms

My research centres on studies of mechanism and function in animal ecology. Most of the current work in my group focusses on stress physiology and intergenerational effects. For example, I am interested in the mechanisms that underpin the cost of reproduction - that is the trade-off between current and future reproduction, and between reproduction and survival. I am also interested in studying patterns of diversity in the evolution of the mammalian placenta. Finally, we study intergenerational effects of exposure to plastic additives (i.e. as pollutants) in birds. 

I work on a broad range of species in the field and the lab. I am a member of the Behaviour research group.
