Ecology and Conservation
Dan Wilson is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Exteter with the Risks and Solutions to Plastic Pollution (RASP-SEA) project. His research uses Lagrangian particle tracking models to better understand the transport of plastic pollution in the global oceans.
His work as part of the RASP-SEA project uses data from GPS tracked plastic bottles to develop a model that can replicate the transport of plastic bottles in SE Asia. This model can then be used to improve our understanding of the sources and end destinations of plastic bottle pollution in the region.
Previously his PhD involved the set up, validation and use of a Lagrangian particle tracking model that simulated the transport of microplastics in the Southern Ocean.
