Dr Daniel Moore is a Lecturer in Marine Biology whose research focuses on the ecology of cetaceans and deep-sea megafauna. As Principal Investigator of the Deep Shark Research Group, his work primarily centres on the ecology and taxonomy of deep-sea sharks. A key focus of this research is developing a deeper understanding of the demon catsharks of the genus Apristurus. In addition, Daniel conducts research on UK humpback whales, as well as white-beaked and bottlenose dolphins.
Dr Moore has extensive experience leading scientific expeditions to remote marine environments around the world, from Antarctica to isolated tropical islands. He now draws on this experience to inspire and engage his students at the University of Exeter.
