Overview

Emily Gilford is a PhD student investigating the evolution of, and mechanisms involved in, stress responses. She is working under the supervision of Dr Bram Kuijper, Professor Stuart Townley and Dr Tim Fawcett at the University of Exeter, and Dr Sinead English at the University of Bristol.

Additional collaborators include Professor Tom Tregenza (the WildCrickets research group) while examining wild and laboratory populations of Gryllus campestris and Gryllus bimaculatus, and Professor Chris Bass (Insect Evolutionary Ecology research group) examining variations in gene expression during different stages of the stress response. 

Emily's research interests encompass stress and social behavior in animals, cognition in wild species, adaptation to environmental changes, and the influence of behavior and endocrine systems on their responses
